BEIJING: While big tech companies are laying off employees to cut costs, TikTok is going in the opposite direction. According to an international media report, the Chinese social media company has announced to hire 3,000 engineers from around the world, including the United States. The TikTok app, which is more popular among American youth than any other major app, is currently feeling bigger than Meta, Twitter and Amazon after these companies announced mass layoffs at the same time. Currently, the number of Tik Tok engineers in the US state of California is more than 1,000, and the company plans to increase this number. Meta, the company that owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, announced the layoff of 11,000 employees this month. On the other hand, almost half of the 7,000 people at Elon Musk’s company, Twitter, were laid off, while Amazon is expected to cut 10,000 jobs.
