Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) Initiates Sample Distribution of Two New AI Chips for China Market

NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA) has commenced the distribution of two novel AI chips tailored for the Chinese market.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang revealed to Reuters that the company has started sampling two new AI chips tailored for the Chinese market. This strategic move comes as Nvidia seeks to address and navigate the intricate landscape of U.S. export restrictions, which have cast uncertainties over its operations in China.

In an interview, Huang said,

“We’re sampling it with customers now. Both of them comply with the regulations without a license. We’re looking forward to customer feedback on it.”

Last year, SemiAnalysis, the chip industry newsletter, revealed Nvidia’s intentions to introduce three new chips – H20, L20, and L2 – targeting the Chinese market. Sources indicate that these offerings integrate Nvidia’s cutting-edge AI capabilities while adhering to computing power standards in compliance with U.S. regulations.

Nvidia has made this strategic move as it grapples with the repercussions of stricter U.S. export regulations implemented in October. These regulations focused on limiting advanced chip exports to China, have significantly impacted the activities of Nvidia in the region.
